How it works

Check your DTF file before printing: step by step

Try it free
01

Upload the file

PNG, JPG or WEBP; you can drag in several files at once.

02

Enter the print width

Optional; resolution and line thickness are checked at that size.

03

Read the report, fix it

Problems are marked on the map; fix them in the background remover with one click.

Why check before printing?

With DTF, a bad file only shows up after the film is printed and pressed: a white line around the design, blurry edges, thin lines that break during transfer or specks left on the film. Each one means wasted film, powder, ink and shirts.

Preflight finds these problems the moment you upload the file and marks them on the image. You can check a customer's file in seconds before it goes into the print queue.

What gets checked?

  • Real resolution (DPI) at print size: warning below 250, error below 150
  • Background not removed: solid backgrounds and ChatGPT's fake checkerboard
  • White halo: light semi-transparent pixels on the edge
  • Semi-transparent shadows, glows and soft gradients
  • Lines thinner than 0.5 mm; error below 0.3 mm
  • Detached pieces smaller than 1 mm²
  • Empty transparent margins, CMYK color mode and non-sRGB color profiles
  • Share of black areas for dark shirts

Problem map

The report is more than a list: problem pixels are colored on the image. Pink marks semi-transparent edges, blue semi-transparent shadows, orange thin lines, and a red ring small pieces that may fall off. Switch back to the original in one click to compare.

Fix what it finds

Backgrounds, white halos and small specks are cleaned up in the background remover with one click; the file is sent there automatically. You can also add a ready file straight to the gang sheet builder.

Why does print width matter?

The same file can be sharp at 10 cm and blurry at 30 cm. Enter the print width and resolution and line thickness are calculated for that size. Otherwise the file's DPI is used, or 300 DPI if it has none.

Privacy

Your file isn't stored on the server: it's checked in memory, the report is sent and the file is discarded.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes, preflight is included in the free plan and doesn't use your minutes. The background remover for fixes is on paid plans.

What DPI does DTF need?

300 DPI at print size is ideal. Around 250 is fine for most designs; below 150 prints blurry and pixelated.

How thin can lines be?

In practice 0.5 mm and up is safe. Lines under 0.3 mm can break during transfer or washing.

Where does the white halo come from?

Designs made on white and then cut out have semi-transparent edge pixels tinted with white. The DTF printer lays white underneath them, leaving a thin white line around the design.

Is my file stored?

No. The file is kept in memory only while it's being checked.
