What does the background remover do?

Print-ready transparent PNGs for DTF and gang sheets: no white halo, semi-transparent edges or specks.

Remove the background from a design you made with ChatGPT or any other tool; clean the white halo, semi-transparent pixels and specks along the edge, and download a transparent PNG at 300 DPI print size.

Why does a white halo appear in DTF prints?

The edge pixels of a design made on a white background are mixed with the background color and semi-transparent. An ordinary eraser leaves them as they are. A DTF printer lays white underbase under semi-transparent pixels too, and the result is a white line and scattered white specks around the design.

This tool replaces the white-tinted color on the edge with the design's own color, makes each semi-transparent pixel either fully opaque or fully transparent, chokes the edge by two or three pixels and removes small specks. No semi-transparent pixels remain in the output.

Three separation methods

• Solid background: white, colored or ChatGPT's checkerboard; enclosed gaps like letter holes are cleaned too
• AI: separates the foreground from complex backgrounds such as photos
• Already transparent PNG: only cleans a file whose background is gone but whose edge is dirty
• Automatic: looks at the image and picks the right method itself

Getting ready for a gang sheet

Enter the print width in centimeters and the image is scaled to it at 300 DPI; you get a warning if a small source has to be enlarged a lot. Empty edges are trimmed and the file name is kept, with '-transparent' added to the end.
