Three problems with ChatGPT images

  • A gray-and-white checkerboard: not real transparency, it's part of the image
  • A white background: cutting it leaves white-tinted, semi-transparent pixels on the edge
  • A 'transparent' PNG: the background is gone but the edge is soft and light; it prints as a halo
  • Low resolution: most images have to be enlarged to print size

What the tool does

It recognizes the checkerboard along with both of its colors, separates a white background by color difference, and on files that are already transparent it only cleans the edge. Enclosed gaps like letter holes are removed too.

Then semi-transparent pixels are removed, the edge color is cleaned and, if you want, the image is scaled to your print width at 300 DPI, with a warning when it has to be enlarged a lot.

FAQ

Can I copy from ChatGPT and paste?

Yes. With the tool page open, just paste the image from your clipboard.

What if the image is too small?

It's enlarged to print size; you get a warning when that takes more than 2x, because it may look soft in print.
